Restoration / Repairs

Date of restoration and/or repairs :

This cross was removed because it was in the way and deposited at the Mairie in Lafat.
In March 2013, it could not be found there.

It is listed in the Napoleonic Map (1885/5).

In 2022, it is still missing.
Crosses can disappear, even in communal premises.
Hence the vigilance of the collective to secure the crosses.

How it was made

Granite is ubiquitous here, it is everywhere in the fields

Each of the inventoried crosses was made by a different stonemason.

However, it seems that they all used the same model or « pattern ».

Each carver made his sculpture from some local granite stone known as a fieldstone.

Crozant type crosses are located between Oïl and Oc on the territory of the "croissant marchois".
