Restoration / Repairs

Date of restoration and/or repairs :

This cross is embedded in a tree stump; it used to mark the entrance to the château path from Pont Charraud.

The owners explained to us that they had found this cross at the bottom of the ditch behind the castle.

They installed it on a tree stump which is already largely decayed.

How it was made

Granite is ubiquitous here, it is everywhere in the fields

Each of the inventoried crosses was made by a different stonemason.

Cependant, il semble qu’ils aient utilisé the same model ou “patron”.

Each carver made his sculpture from some local granite stone known as a fieldstone.
