Restoration / Repairs
Date of restoration and/or repairs :
This cross is sited a few dozen metres from the gateway to the château. It comes from the Charraud bridge and is the one that was recorded on the Napoleonic map. It is placed as an ornament to the façade of the château. The cross is installed on a well-suited masonry support. This can be taken as an example for the reinstallation of other endangered crosses
How it was made
Granite is ubiquitous here, it is everywhere in the fields
Each of the inventoried crosses was made by a different stonemason.
However, it seems that they all used the same model or « pattern ».
Each carver made his sculpture from some local granite stone known as a fieldstone.
Find out more with the expertise of Didier Fauguet, stone sculptor and carver.
Location
